Model Training Workshop - 3rd April 2011

Once again I shot a model workshop - this time it was jazzed up slightly. Feedback first and activity images below.
I'm still shit with names so its this guy, thats guy and this other chick.

Ok, so this 'monsieur' was a gorgeous looking european. Sadly he was far too short for catwalk but has great bone structure and took a great photo. He didn't take direction as well as hoped and wore a hat for most of his shoot which was a little unflattering so could do with finding out what looks work and becoming more versatile.
Definitely aim to find some TFP work for practice - I think this guy could do very very well in editorial fashion with such a distinct look.

This gent was a boxer and although he was tall and a great looker his catwalking needs some improvement as he had a little too much swagger and not enough energy.
He was incredibly photogenic and took direction very well and I think with a few TFP shoots under his belt and a new lease of energy he could do very well - his height faring him well for runway and his looks working for editorial and commercial shoots.

This guy was so quiet and sweet and had another great editorial fashion face but was a little on the short side as well. He took direction well and was happy to try different things. With a lot more experience I think he could break into some very good work. Once again needs some photoshoot practice so that he can create a strong editorial portfolio to offset his height.

This lady was too short for runway and needs a lot of catwalk practice before attempting to break into catwalk. She was very photogenic and created some great 'diva' style photos but should probably try and get as much editorial practice as possible. Due to her height and size she will have trouble with run way but has a great style for commercial shoots and would be a great extra.

This guy has a really intense look - his runway was great and his photoshoot was also impressive. He took direction very well and again was happy to try new things. Could do with a little more runway practice and should get involved with a few TFP's to build a portfolio.

What a great smile! Perfectly happy throughout the workshop and shoot - trying different things and taking some great photos. Although he's short there are some great opportunities for him to be an extra and commercial model - I think he would easily get extra and acting work. Build up a portfolio of TFP jobs and go for it! :)
Its really refreshing to see someone styling constantly!

Before commenting on his modelling skills I have to mention this guys nails. (Hey… I never said I was impartial) He has one hand of inch long REAL fingernails. One hand of claws creeped me out!
Anyway - I think that this dudes skin wasn't great which could create problems but being tall enough and with a strong look extra work, commercial work and possibly some runway is within reach. I think he needs to build up a good portfolio of TFP and try and get into some sort of extras work.

This guy needs to work on taking direction and I feel he would be better off looking for extras and commercial work over editorial fashion or runway. His photos came out very well but I felt he could do with being a little more expressive. Definitely needs to build a portfolio of TFP work and start looking into some extras opportunities.

This girl has a great figure and a great look but needs to work on taking direction. Her catwalking also needed some work. I think as she isn't very tall she should aim to get as much TFP commercial and editorial work to further her experience.

This young lass is tall and slim and had a great catwalk session but I think she really needs to work on a portfolio before going into editorial or catwalk. She needs to develop flattering poses and work on her expression as her photos came across as a little blank. Get as much TFP work as possible then look into catwalk and editorial fashion.

This girl had a great catwalk and an amazing petite figure but again her photos didn't quite bring enough expression to the pictures and I don't think she took direction as well as she could. I think she could do some great run way work and commercial/extra work but I don't think she's quite strong enough for fashion editorial yet. Get as much TFP work in your portfolio as possible!

This girl has a great shaped face and a nice figure but took direction very badly and needs to work on her poses and learn the difference between posing for Facebook and posing for a photoshoot. She has a great figure and could do some great fashion editorial work but I think she's going to struggle unless she really works hard on her direction. Get as much experience with a photographer as possible, expand your portfolio and work on facial expressions in the mirror - make comparisons with fashion shoots and try to imitate them.

This guy was fantastic in front of the camera and created some great shots with intense expression, a great body and taking direction easily. I think he may be a little short for runway but his catwalk was great and I really think that with some practice and lots of TFP work he has the potential to go far.

Many of these models arent taking direction as well as they could do and seem to have no idea of what sort of modelling they want to get into. All of them need to look REALISTICALLY at what they can and cant do remembering that to do runway girls should be over 5"8 and guys over 6"1. Size and look really matter and shorter more striking girls will be able to get better editorial work than taller but less tricking catwalk girls.
Having so many guys at the workshop was great but many of them seem to keep their social standing within the workshops, not relaxing as much as they could have done. Remember, with these workshops - NO ONE CARES if you look stupid - the exercises we do are to make people feel at ease.

We set up a studio space and gave each model a lucky dip emotion or character to play infront of the camera to work on expression and getting into character which is essential to get into extras work, acting work, editorial and commercial shoots - its not always going to be high fashion!

  1. Crap! Crap! Crap!
Edgemodel is a shit and cone!

  2. the comment on the picture are soo true.. what the model can do now is to work on their errors and they would be Brilliant after taking these corrections

  3. Dear "Crap Crap Crap"
Thanks for your interest in the workshop.
If your that bothered then remove your self from their correspondence and get someone else to represent you. Edge Models do their best to help and provide so many models with constant work and training but if your a dog with a bad attitude they will never be able to get you work - I wouldn't hire anyone as rude as you.

    Fuck off and complain elsewhere.

And yes - they can now work on their errors and become better models :)

  4. The workshop was great, had fun and was a good experience and it helped in confidence building to be honest.
    Thanks for the comments.

  5. Glad you enjoyed it! :) Hope you love the pics xx

  6. I had a great day and learned some very useful techniques from Michella, but the jemima has described me here is not right. I am 5,7 which I don't think is too short . I am really pleased with the pictures and had a wonderful experience with our photoshoot. Thanks , Huda Ebrahim
